studios

I currently have a studio at Threshold Sound in Santa Monica, a full top-end studio facility with a perfect Neve 8078 in studio “A” and a fully stocked mastering suite too. Inquire with me and I’ll get you a great rate for the Neve room and Threshold Mastering though additional to my rate.  Of course I also have a mix studio upstairs with my ProTools HD3 System.  Ninety percent of the mix examples and masters on this site are from this gorgeous sounding studio without the expensive big studio bill. Very popular :)

At Threshold In Studio “A” The console is our superb Neve 8078 which is for sale.

My in-the-box mixes are done here at Threshold In my Pro Tools HD3 Mix Studio

CJ DRD mix studioDeepRockDrive broadcast mix studio in Las Vegas

DeepRockDrive.com sadly folded August 08′ after 18 months of great concerts. I was Audio Director and Mix Engineer for “DeepRockDrive” who were the only “live” (real-time) interactive concert broadcasters in the world. I designed, installed and operated DRD’s audio systems and methodologies resulting in the highly  praised internet sound and mix quality. The studio sounded absolutely wonderful. The video players in the rock mix page have several song samples from a few of DeepRockDrive’s 85 shows including “Disturbed” “OAR” “Motion City Sountrack” “Lady Antebellum” to name a few. It’s just a small sample of over 1,000 broadcast songs clipped from the hour long unmastered show mixes as they fed the live streaming internet broadcast codecs, via my mix console. They are “LIVE” on the fly mixes after about an average 90 minutes of sound-check just before broadcast. If you would like to see user generated clips of other shows, many of the fans lifted and posted the events just minutes after the shows, I’ve collected several to the songworx youTube account. Below is a simple hardware list of the broadcast setup.

BROADCAST MIX STUDIO: – Console: Digidesign Venue D-Show – 2 sidecars – 4 DSP’s – 48 inputs – FOH10x – HDx……Plugins: “Venue All-Access Pack” and the stock “Venue Pack”….. Multi-Track Recording: Pro Tools HD2 for 64 track recording – stock plugins….. 2 Track Recorders: Intel iMac – Apogee mini DAC – Bias Peak – Tascam CD 9000……. Outboard: TC Reverb 4000 – Waves Maxx BCL on the 2buss…… Monitoring: Quested h108′s, Bryston 4Bst w/ 2x Tannoy TS12′s fed by a Benchmark DAC1 – Coleman switcher……. Power: 40 amps of Equiteck balanced AC and 40 amps of TrippLite UPS.

The broadcast mix studio at DeepRockDrive is a well balanced sounding control room (L22′ W14′ H11′) completely isolated since it’s 250 feet away from the production sound-stage. We are a very digital production facility from stage input converters to our multiple broadcast “Digital Rapids” codecs and multiple videoPanasonic HD deck feeds.
